This is my first public installation that has been hanging at the Main Street Train Station in downtown Richmond, Virginia since December, 2012. It consists of 78 chimes made from personally selected, cut, and sanded pieces of aluminum of various thicknesses ranging from two inches to six inches long. These chimes are hanging on five intersecting lines of twine, each hand braided with colored yarn, extending to about 32 feet long. This site-specific installation is attached to one section of the iron supports under the tracks. I was interested in creating a meditative environment, through the quiet singing of the chimes and hints of color, in a harsh urban landscape.
